The world-famous Notting Hill was already iconic, way before the blockbuster film starring Julia Roberts hit the cinemas. This region in West London is one of the most affluent that we’ve ever come across. You may have heard of it because of the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. Or perhaps Portobello Road Market was what brought your attention this way. Whatever the reason, why not sit back as we tell you a bit more about this iconic district?
What is there to do here?
If you’d have asked us that 100 years ago, not only would you have had to do so in person (as the internet wasn’t invented), but we’d have had to tell you a very, very different story. Back then this region was about as run down and decrepit as they come. In the mid-1980s a huge renovation plan was set in motion and almost four decades later, this region is one of the most privileged in the entirety of London.
With remarkably authentic looking homes that take their features from the late Victorian era, as well as a host of shopping areas, restaurants and sources of entertainment – the region is just about as active as they come. And to solidify its reputation as an iconic part of London, several politicians including David Cameron grew up here.
Are there many salons to choose from?
During the 1980s and at the peak of renovations, dozens of salons popped up in the hopes of offering their therapy services to locals and residents. These days many of the salons still stand, having been in operation for almost 40 years – and these ones are some of the most highly sought-after in the district.
There are also plenty of new ones to choose from too; you’ll find a handful of them situated on the high street, as well as roughly half a dozen scattered along the back streets and walkways. To get your search underway be sure to take a look at our listings, as we’ve made a point of getting to know a bit more about some of the best options out there for your convenience!
